This past winter, I retreated with my girlfriends to go on our annual ski weekend.  We had so much snow at the beginning of the season that one of the ladies asked if I would work with nature to prevent the January thaw so that we could enjoy the bountiful snow.  It is generally my task in our  group to ensure a good amount of snow and for the past several years, even though the seasons were scantily white, spirit has answered my call.  Stopping the January thaw however, just didn't seem right.  So I checked in and asked what the purpose really was.  And of course the answer seemed obvious.  The trees and shrubs need a drink in the middle of the season to make it all the way through winter.  It is inevitable that the thaw comes in January.  Sometimes it's a little early, sometimes it a little later, but it is always there, every year without failure, and timed perfectly right when it is need.  I reflected on my own life.  Every time I needed a drink, there it was.  Often defying any sense of reality. 

As we transition from snow to rain this season, let the April showers cleanse you of all that you wish to leave behind.  Turn your face upward to the heavens during the rain (be careful of thunder and lightening).  Be a part of this aspect of nature, let the waters cleanse you without resisting the cool droplets.  Leave behind all of the hard work that has gotten you here.   Let go of all the distrust, scarcity, indifference, ego, overcompensating for misperceptions, judgment, grief, pity and on and on.  Foolishly defy reality and embrace all that you are right now and take in all that is waiting for you to drink.  Its always there, right when you need it.  Look for these gifts as we continue to grow into our highest aspect of divinity.
